Abstract

Due to the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) powered by electric motors in recent years, an increasing number of vehicles are equipped with lithium-ion batteries. Accordingly, research and development are being conducted to increase lithium-ion battery output and capacity. On the other hand, manufacturing defects can lead to accidents from batteries igniting. Due to such risks, industrial X-ray CT systems are increasingly used to non-destructively inspect the batteries. This article describes an example of using an inspeXio SMX-225CT FPD HR Plus X-ray CT inspection system with an optional CORE Boost module to inspect a lithium-ion battery.
