Shimadzu Purses the Creation of New Value by Focusing Research and Development on the Next Generation.
To create new value, it is important to continuously endeavor to determine the needs and trends of the changing times.
Therefore, we keep our advanced research and development focused a step ahead on what customers will need and what they will find useful in the future.
Mass Spectrometry Technology
We are involved in research and development of higher performance mass spectrometry technology for applications that are currently expanding in life science fields such as drug discovery and medical research. In addition, we are developing imaging mass microscope technology for mass spectrometry imaging of especially small areas.
To support ultra-early diagnosis of diseases and efficient new drug development, we are conducting research and development of an imaging device and molecular probe able to visualize biomolecules, cells, and tissue from biological organisms.
By applying our MEMS semiconductor processing technology, we are conducting research and development of a fluid control device for use in analytical instruments, a separation mechanism, detector, and also an analysis system with sophisticated functionality based on those components.
Data Processing Technology
New value can be created by using software to process image and signal data acquired with an instrument. Consequently, we are conducting research and development of imaging technology and signal processing technology useful for analyzing diagnostic imaging and measurement data.
Optical Measurement Technology
We are conducting research and development related to new types of high-speed, high-sensitivity measuring devices and optical-application measuring technology that utilize the ability of light to allow various forms of non-contact measurement, which can be applied to fields such as nondestructive visual measurement and industrial measurement.
Electron and X-Ray Technology
Utilizing element technology in the fields of vacuums, electron sources, electron lens, and targets, we are conducting research and development related to next-generation X-ray sources that can be used for medical diagnosis, nondestructive inspection, and composition analysis as well as high-sensitivity, highprecision X-ray detectors.
