UV TALK LETTER Vol. 16

UV-VIS spectrophotometers are the most commonly used analytical instrument using light. They are used in a wide variety of fields for applications such as quantitative analysis, colorimetry, measuring the thickness of thin films or coatings, or transmittance or reflectance measurements of optical elements.Historically, it is one of the oldest analytical instruments as well. In the case of Shimadzu, we developed and released our first UV-VIS spectrophotometer using a prism in the early 1950s. This document reviews the history of Shimadzu UV-VIS spectrophotometers, from inception to today.
