The solvent extraction method (Soxhlet extraction method) is used as pre-treatment for highly accurate brominated flame retardants analysis by GC/MS. The polymer materials are milled and extracted by soxhlet using toluene. The extracts are injected into the GC/MS after concentration and cleaned up with sulfuric acid activated silica gel.
