RSNA2011 Shimadzu Booth Report

RSNA2011 Shimadzu Booth Information

RSNA 2011 Shimadzu Booth

At the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America) Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting in Chicago, the world's largest radiological exhibition, Shimadzu introduced many new state-of-the-art products under the theme of "Experience Shimadzu." At Shimadzu, the entire Shimadzu group of companies is committed to not only providing improvements to core performance expected in diagnostic imaging systems, such as image quality, applications, ease of operation, and smooth workflow, but also the quality and service necessary to ensure customers can introduce and use Shimadzu products with confidence and peace of mind. This year, Shimadzu's booth helped many customers experience many new state-of-the-art products that offer new clinical value.

RSNA 2011 Shimadzu Booth

In spite of the light rain that fell on some days, we were blessed with relatively mild weather in Chicago this year.

SONIALVISION safire17 X-Ray Fluoroscopy System

The multipurpose table provides high definition images for a wide array of applications, such as for examinations of the gastrointestinal, orthopedic, or urinary regions or angiographic examinations of the abdomen or lower extremities. This table is now being used in many facilities worldwide. In particular, it has attracted attention for tomosynthesis, which minimizes metal artifacts and enables viewing areas with metal installations, such as to observe the post-treatment state of bone fracture or the status of bones near artificial joints.

With an increasing number of orthopedic applications, visitors were shown state-of-the-art clinical examples of tomosynthesis and slot radiography applications used for diagnostic support. There was particular interest in clinical examples that are expected to be widely applied in the future, such as examples of using tomosynthesis for evaluating osteoporosis or using dual energy subtraction to assess callus formation.

BRANSIST Series Angiography Systems

BRANSIST series systems offer superior imaging capabilities for capillaries and PCI devices. For this event, a system equipped with a 12 x 12-inch FPD was exhibited, ideal for viewing blood vessels of the entire body. It was a BRANSIST alexa model with a ceiling suspended C-arm. This system was used to demonstrate the ease-of-operation and image quality. In addition, BRANSIST safire images obtained using the popular Dynamic Stent View software that enables real-time display of enhanced stent images were also displayed.

RADspeed Series General Radiography Systems

RADspeed series systems are designed to provide superior ease-of-operation to ensure examination procedures can be conducted smoothly, with features such as auto-positioning*, which enables moving the ceiling suspended X-ray tube support to the target exposure area by remote control, and auto stitching radiography*, which enables easily capturing images of large areas. Now RADspeed series systems can be equipped with a wireless FPD unit (model for Japanese market is currently a WIP). Visitors were able to try how easy it is to operate the system at the exhibition hall. They seemed to be especially impressed with how easy it is to perform even complicated exposures.

KLAS Awards for Two Shimadzu Models

For the third year in a row, the RADspeed was selected for the 2011 Best in KLAS Award (for digital X-ray systems) by the healthcare accreditation organization KLAS Enterprises (Orem, Utah, in the United States). The MobileDaRt Evolution digital mobile X-ray system was also selected as a category leader (digital mobile X-ray category), which recognizes products that model trend leader.

FLEXAVISION F3 Package X-Ray Fluoroscopy System

We announced a new X-ray fluoroscopy system that includes a portable FPD unit with a 14 x 17-inch field of view and that is capable of both fluoroscopy and radiography. The FPD unit, which can be rotated to fit the exposure area, can also be used detached from the table. We frequently saw customers showing their keen interest in this unique detector that can even be used for plain radiography on the table.

MobileDaRt Evolution and MobileArt Evolution Mobile X-Ray Systems

With the introduction of a wireless FPD panel, the FPDs are easier to handle, earning the MobileDaRt Evolution series models praise for enabling even faster examinations in emergency situations and operating rooms. The product line now includes a dual wireless FPD model (WIP) that allows selecting either a large 17 x 14-inch wireless FPD or a compact 14 x 11-inch wireless FPD (WIP). Shimadzu has a 30 % share of the mobile X-ray system market in the United States, so the area around these units was especially busy with visitors.

Thank you to all the many visitors to our Shimadzu booth at RSNA 2011.
