Concave Blazed Holographic Gratings

Concaved Blazed Horographic Gratings

The concave grating has the advantage of being able to constitute a spectroscopic system without any assistance from concave mirrors or similar types of image-forming elements. For this reason, the concave grating is used in a wide range of applications, such as analytical instruments, optical communications, biotechnology, and medical instruments. Spectroscopes incorporating concave gratings are classified roughly into two groups: polychromators or monochromators. Shimadzu offers concave gratings for application in (1)flat-field polychromators and (2)constant deviation monochromators.

Features

  1. Since the aberration-correcting function can be incorporated within the grating itself, it is possible to compose spectroscopic systems that are not only compact in size but also superior over mechanically ruled gratings with respect to resolution.

  2. It is possible to produce concave gratings with a small radius of curvature. Concave gratings with a high aperture ratio are also available for application in fields such as fluorescence spectrometry chemical analysis and optical communications.

  3. All the concave gratings for flat-field polychromators and constant deviation monochromators are produced using the optimum exposure method for correcting aberration, which includes Shimadzu's aspherical wave exposure method*, ensuring excellent imaging performance.

    * Patented (Japan Patent No. 1946518, U.S. Patent No. 5052766, U.K./French/German Patent No. 270700, Chinese Patent No. 23311, Singapore Patent No. 28110)

  4. The grating grooves are produced with a high level of optical precision by a holographic exposure method that adopted the two beams interference of laser beam. Using this method ensures that the amount of stray light due to periodic errors is much smaller than with mechanically ruled gratings.

  5. Blazing is performed with an ion-beam etching technology and so it is easy to manufacture blazed holographic gratings with a variety of blaze angles (blaze wavelengths).

  6. Gratings with a high groove density and high resolution can be manufactured easily and at competitive price.

Standard Specifications

Standard Specifications

* 1 : The grating grooves are formed with resin.
* 2 : The peak wavelength is within the margin of tolerance for the blaze wavelength.
* 3 : Be sure to prevent condensation as this can cause a significant deterioration of optical characteristics.

In the interests of product improvement, the external appearance and specifications are subject to change without notice.
