April 17, 2013 | News & Notices Opening Ceremony Held for Demonstration Laboratory at European Subsidiary

Shimadzu Europa GmbH (SEG), Shimadzu Corporation's European subsidiary headquartered in Duisburg, Germany, and headed by Yasuo Miura, SEG president, significantly renovated their demonstration laboratory to improve their application development capabilities and offer broader customer support services for Shimadzu analytical and measuring instrument products in all regions of Europe and Russia. The opening ceremony was held on April 15, local time.

The ceremony was attended by Duisburg mayor Soeren Link, Duisburg consul general of Japan, Kiyoshi Koinuma, and many others. The Shimadzu Group President and CEO, Akira Nakamoto, and Director and General Manager of Shimadzu Analytical & Measuring Instruments Division, Teruhisa Ueda, were also there to cut the ribbon for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

SEG's demonstration laboratory was originally built in 1987 and has been used for the last 25 years to perform demonstration analysis, and so on. Now with the major redesign of the layout and modifications, it has been expanded to about three times the size to serve both as a showroom and laboratory. The laboratory includes chromatographs, mass spectrometers, spectrophotometers, total organic carbon analyzers, materials testing machines, and various other instruments manufactured and sold by Shimadzu Corporation. In addition, it includes new seminar and training rooms to help cultivate closer sales relationships with customers.

At the opening ceremony, President Nakamoto pointed out that "European countries serve a leading role in establishing environmental standards that help ensure safety in all of our lives. Since Shimadzu's management principle is Realizing Our Wishes for the Well-Being of Both Mankind and the Earth, the Shimadzu Group is committed to deploying our business activities in accordance with these standards of Europe, which is the most advanced society in terms of protecting the environment. Therefore, I hope you will all provide your support."

This new facility will help improve SEG's ability to offer more effective explanations of Shimadzu's advanced technologies and products, and will also offer high quality seminars and training sessions to increase customer satisfaction. In addition, it will strengthen SEG's ability to develop customer applications. Consequently, it will help Shimadzu further increase their market share of analytical and measuring instruments in Europe.
