Excellent stability of solvent delivery at nano flows
The LC-20ADnano provides excellent flow rate precision even at nano-level flow rates thanks to the new Reflux Flow Control (RFC) technology, which allows independent flow rate control of each pump.
With the patent-pending Reflux Flow Control system, flow rate is controlled by feedback from signals from the high-precision nano flow sensor, assuring precise flow rate at all times. The flow meter is equipped with a precise temperature-control mechanism to minimize the effect of ambient temperature variation on the solvent delivery flow rate.
In nanoflow gradient analysis, less than 0.20 RSD% (n=6) retention time repeatability is achieved at a flow rate of 300 nL/min, demonstrating excellent flow rate stability in gradient analysis.
Principle of Reflux Flow Control (RFC) System
Built into the pump, a flow sensor, which is able to detect nano-level flow rates continuously, monitors the actual flow rate after the mobile phase split in each pump. The pump solvent delivery is feedback-controlled in order to maintain the monitored flow rate at the set flow rate value. This enables stable solvent delivery without the influence of solvent delivery pressure, achieving excellent repeatability of both the total flow rate and gradient concentration.
In addition, most of the mobile phase flowing from the pump is rerouted (reflux) to the inlet of the pump through the reflux line after the split.
Low Solvent Consumption
The RFC system ensures that solvent discharged after the internal split flow in each pump is returned to the mobile phase bottle. Even in high pressure gradient analysis, the system is designed so that the two mixed solvents are not discharged as waste after the split, thereby eliminating wasteful consumption of solvent and reducing the environmental impact.
FCV nano, a low volume nano valve - Superior performance and ruggedness -
Volume between ports in the FCV nano is as low as 25 nL, resulting in virtually no peak broadening in the nano flow rate range. For the trap injection and 2-dimensional system configuration required for nano LC, the FCV nano valve is indispensible.
By combining a surface-hardened stator and a PEEK rotor, low adsorption and high durability are achieved. Thus, the FCV nano minimizes the occurrence of particles from friction-related wear, which can cause clogging of the nano flow lines. This feature is critical for long-term system robustness.
With this suppressed adsorption of analytical samples, the FCV nano is a switching valve optimized for bio sample analysis.
Higher-sensitivity analysis with less sample
The combination of the proven direct injection performance of the SIL-20AC and the low dispersion of the FCV nano valve allows analysis with a minimal injection volume. The direct injection-type autosampler requires no additional sample for injection, and the trapping column flow line with the FCV nano minimizes peak broadening, providing the maximum sensitivity with the least sample volume. The SIL-20AC is also highly reputed as a low-adsorption, low-contamination autosampler. These are the features that earned Prominence its reputation as a low-carryover LC system providing stable analysis, a key requirement for high-sensitivity MS analysis.
