Analysis of low-alloy Steel

Steel analysis is a particularly goodapplication for XRF. The bulk, of the material, rather than the surface is measured, samplepreparation is often easy, or non-existent.The range of elements reported by EDXRF isalso very useful for the XRF analyst. With anysample, the possibility of matrix effects canand will affect instrumentation. It is vital thatany XRF spectrometer have built inspectrographic corrections, such as thoseused by the EDX-700/800, to account forthese matrix affects. These exist when aspectral line is close to another spectral line,or absorption edge.
