Determination of hazardous substances according to RoHS - Energy-dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer

Energy-dispersive X-rayfluorescence is a fast andsimple analytical methodfor the determination of compoundswhich are addressedunder the RoHS ("Restriction ofthe use of certain HazardousSubstances") directive. Thisdirective on the limited use ofcertain hazardous compoundshas been integrated into nationallegislature by the EuropeanUnion member states. The newlegislature will come into effecton July 1, 2006 and will restrictthe use of lead, mercury, cadmium,hexavalent chromium andtwo brominated flame retardantswhich are used in the manufactureof electrical and electronicequipment.
