Identification of Biodiesel Blends by HATR-FTIR Spectroscopy - Soy bean oil based -

Soy bean diesel is the most promising ofseveral varieties of agriculturally producedalternatives to petroleum fuels. Thisapplication note showcases the ability ofHATR in combination with FTIR-spectroscopyto identify commercially available biodieselblends. While FTIR does not possess thedetection limits or industry acceptance ofGCMS, it does provide the advantages ofquick, non-destructive, and inexpensiveanalysis. Our results indicate that it is anexcellent choice as a quality controltechnique for large batches of biodieselblends.
