Evaluation of Amyloid-β Aggregation by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR)

With FTIR, it is possible to evaluate the aggregation of amyloid-β by analyzing the amide I band around 1,650 cm-1, which originates from stretching vibration of the C=O group of the peptide bond. Because the 9 reflection ATR method introduced in this article makes it possible to evaluate amyloid-β aggregation by a simple operation with only a small amount of sample material, use of this technique in research and development is expected.
