Analysis of Dioxins in Foods and Feeds Using GC-MS/MS with BEIS

Boost Efficiency Ion Source (BEIS) realizes sensitivity approximately four times higher than that of conventional ion sources. In this article, dioxins in more than 250 samples of foodstuffs and animal feed products were analyzed using a GC-MS/MS with BEIS. Dioxin quantitation performance was evaluated by comparing the analysis results of GC-MS/MS and GC-HRMS. As a result, no difference was found in the quantitation performance of these two methods at the concentration level required in analyses. Durability was also evaluated, and no decrease in sensitivity at low concentration levels was observed after more than 500 analyses. It was found that use of BEIS enables analysis of dioxins with quantitative accuracy on the same level as magnetic sector-type GC-MS while also providing high durability.
