Metabolome Analysis of Japanese Rock Ptarmigan Feces by LC/MS/MS: Application to the Establishment of Breeding Technology for Endangered Species
The number of Japanese rock ptarmigans has decreased and it is feared they could become extinct. Artificial breeding and other measures have been implemented, but there are many issues that must be resolved, including the feed. In recent years, it has become clear that intestinal bacteria contribute to host health maintenance and promotion, and the analysis of metabolites produced by intestinal bacteria is attracting attention. In this article, as one approach to increasing the number of Japanese rock ptarmigans, we introduce a case where differences in the metabolites produced by the intestinal flora of wild and artificially bred Japanese rock ptarmigans was examined using LC-MS/MS.
