3-Point Flexural Test of Cellulose Nanofibers Reinforced Plastics
Cellulose nanofibers (CNF) have attracted interest as a new material following carbon fiber, as they are low environmental impact, plant-derived material, weigh only 1/5 as much as steel but have a high specific strength, being five times stronger than ferrous materials, and strength equal or superior to that of the conventional materials can be realized by compounding CNF with resins and rubber. Materials produced with numerous internal voids in order to impart new functions to resin molded products are called resin foams.
In this article, a 3-point flexural test of a resin material was conducted, and the differences in strength with/without CNF and with/without foaming were compared.
