Tensile Test of High Tensile Strength Steel

A tensile test of a high tensile strength steel using strain rate control was conducted in accordance with JIS Z 2241 Annex JB. Hydraulic flat grips with high gripping force were used to enable testing of the high tensile strength steel without slipping in the grips. Although JIS Z 2241 Annex JB specifies strain rate control accuracy of ±20 %, a satisfactory test with error within 10 % was possible by using a Shimadzu AGX-V precision universal testing machine and the hydraulic flat grips.
