Tensile Test of Carbon Fiber

Carbon fiber is used as a reinforcement material in carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Because CFRP has extremely high mechanical properties, increasing use as a structural material for transportation equipment to improve fuel efficiency by weight reduction is conceivable in the future. In the development of composite materials, understanding the respective mechanical properties of the matrix and the reinforcement material is important. In this article, a tensile test of a single carbon fiber filament was performed using an AGS-X precision universal testing machine.
