High-Speed Wet-Type Particle Size Distribution Measurement System
While the SALD-3100 High-Speed Wet-Type Particle Size Distribution Measurement System is in use, clean liquid medium is always introduced, and continuously discharged from the dispersing bath via the measuring unit. In other words, the dispersing bath, cell and inside of the piping is kept in a constantly clean state.
When a sample is introduced into the dispersing bath in this state, it is momentarily dispersed by a powerful homogenizer, diluted by a stirrer and the suspension is delivered to the measuring unit by a pump.
If the liquid medium (suspension) exceeds a fixed concentration at the measuring unit, the sampler recognizes that a sample has been introduced, and starts diffracted/scattered light detection. After this, if the liquid medium (suspension) falls below a fixed concentration, the sampler recognizes that a sample has been discharged, and ends diffracted/scattered light detection.
In this way, all diffracted/scattered light from sample introduction through to discharge is automatically detected to measure the particle size distribution and save measurement results.
After the sample is discharged, the sampler returns to standby where only clean liquid medium flows continuously.
The above describes a single measurement cycle.
One cycle lasts about 30 seconds. Consequently, the next measurement can be started 30 seconds after the initial measurement is begun.
With regular (circulation) measurement, one measurement cycle including washing takes between three to five minutes. Whereas, measurement by the Acyclic Motion Sampler is between six to ten times faster.
