New Possibilities of Sampling Particulates Suspended in Air

Diesel gas emission microparticles, pollen, yellow sand dust, and a variety of other particulates are suspended in the air we breathe. These suspended particulates, of course, cannot be seen by the naked eye, and also they cannot be analyzed in a suspended state. The SSPM-100 sampler enables the observation, measurement and analysis of various microparticles suspended in air by collecting them on a glass sampling plate. The SSPM-100 is merely a sampler and cannot measure or analyze particulates by itself. So, it is presumed that it will be used in combination with some kind of measuring device. Particulates collected on the transparent glass sampling plate can be analyzed with a variety of analytical and measuring instruments. For example, their shape can be observed using an optical microscope, and their particle size distribution can be measured by the laser diffraction/scattering methods.

1. Collects Suspended Particulates on Transparent Glass Plate (Usable on Optical Microscope)
Particulates collected on the transparent glass sampling plate can be analyzed with a variety of analytical and measuring instruments. For example, their shape can be observed using an optical microscope, and their particle size distribution can be measured by the laser diffraction/scattering methods. The particulate sampling plate (electroconductive coated transparent glass plate) is the same size (75 × 25 × 2 mm) as general glass slides, and can be used as it is for optical microscope observation with ease of use.

2. Collects Even Ultra-Micro Particulates
An electrostatic collection system enables even ultra-micro particulates to be collected.

3. Collects Suspended Particulates Without Damage
Collection is performed in normal atmosphere, so particulates can be collected without being damaged.

4. Simple Handling of Sample Stage
The sample stage can be drawn out of the sampler by one-touch operation, and the glass sampling plate can be set in place simply by placing it on the sample stage.

5. Supports a Wide Range of Suction Flowrates
The suction flowrate can be adjusted up to 20 L/min, which allows a wide range of flowrates from small to large to be accommodated.
