Exhibiting at the Semicon China International Exhibition for the Semiconductor Industry
The Shimadzu Group company Shimadzu (China) Co., Ltd. (SSL) hosted a booth at Semicon China, one of the world’s largest international exhibitions related to semiconductors, where it introduced Shimadzu vacuum technologies, analytical technologies, and various products that contribute to semiconductor manufacturing.

Semicon China is an annual exhibition where devices, equipment, and other products involved in all stages of semiconductor manufacturing gather in one place, held every year at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai, China. This year, there were about 1,500 exhibitors and 200,000 visitors. Over 20 sessions and other events were held during the exhibition period.
Supporting Many Processes in Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment
Equipment exhibited at the Shimadzu booth included a turbomolecular pump (TMP-2814) and leak detector (MSE-2600 series) used to create a vacuum environment inside semiconductor manufacturing equipment, an online TOC analyzer (TOC-1000e S) used to monitor contamination in ultrapure water required for washing processes, and a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer system (GCMS-QP2020 NX) used for quality control. Many visitors to the booth created a lively atmosphere with active business discussions and various consultations.

During the exhibition, Shimadzu invited semiconductor industry experts and representatives of relevant companies to a seminar on semiconductor industry solution technologies and a launch event for the new TOC-1000e S online TOC analyzer. Detailed presentations were also given on Shimadzu solutions for the entire semiconductor manufacturing process, including not only industrial equipment such as turbomolecular pumps (TMPs) but also measuring instruments such as TOC analyzers. There were also active exchanges of views about technical innovations and advancements in the semiconductor industry.
Shimadzu TMPs Boasting Leading Global Market Share
TMPs generate a high vacuum by using rapidly rotating rotor blades to repel gas molecules that enter through the inlet and expel them through the exhaust port. Such vacuum atmospheres are essential for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, such as for etching processes used to form the detailed structures in semiconductors.


TOC-1000e S TOC Analyzer Designed Specifically for Online Monitoring of Ultrapure Water
The TOC-1000e S online TOC analyzer for ultrapure water is an analytical instrument designed to measure organic contaminants in water as total organic carbon. Semiconductor manufacturing involves repeatedly washing silicon wafers and using large amounts of water in many process steps, such as etching and polishing. Unless ultrapure water, from which impurities have been removed to the utmost, is used, circuit pattern defects and lower yields can result.

Due to the further miniaturization of semiconductors in recent years, requirements for the purity of cleaning water have become increasingly stringent. Shimadzu has released the new TOC-1000e S model, which uses a unique measuring algorithm to achieve higher-sensitivity detection. It can stably measure ultrapure water with TOC concentrations of 1 ppb or less, meeting the stringent water quality requirements of the semiconductor industry. Its high detection capability and responsiveness have generated great expectations that it will contribute significantly to improving yield in manufacturing processes.
Shimadzu TOC analyzers have long been used not only in the semiconductor field, but also for environmental testing, wastewater monitoring, and quality control of tap water and water used in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Shimadzu will continue to contribute even more to cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing processes with the technologies we have cultivated over many years.

Semicon China covers the entire supply chain of semiconductor-related industries, including semiconductor design, manufacturing, assembly and inspection, manufacturing equipment, materials, solar power generation, and display devices.
