Workshops

We are offering workshops on metabolomics and other topics using pretreatment equipment and mass spectrometers in the Analytical Innovation Research Laboratory.
Participants in the workshops gain hands-on experience in the procedures for various research by pretreating and measuring samples and then analyzing the data measured by mass spectrometers.

Note: A workshop participation fee will be charged. The workshop schedule may be subject to change.

Contents

Participants in the workshop will pretreat food samples for analysis, perform measurements using the GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS, and then analyze the measured data (including multivariate analyses). Through this workshop, participants will gain hands-on experience in the procedures for analyzing metabolomics, and learn differences in using GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS.

Intended for

This workshop is intended for people who are starting food metabolomics analysis using GC-MS(/MS) and LC-MS/MS. People who do not have access to the instruments can also participate in this workshop.

Instruments Used

GCMS-TQ8040
(Smart Metabolites Database)
LCMS-8060
(LC/MS/MS Method Package for Primary Metabolites Ver. 2)

Day 1 AM
・Orientation
・Sample pretreatment
Participants will pretreat and prepare samples to be measured.
・Preparing instruments for measurement
Participants will adjust the instruments (perform tuning).
PM
・Sample measurement
Participants will measure the pretreated samples using mass spectrometers.
・Presentation on food metabolomics and discussion
A presentation on food metabolomics will be given by Professor Eiichiro Fukusaki, Osaka University.
Day 2 AM
・Presentation on imaging metabolomics and description of the demonstration
A presentation on imaging metabolomics will be given by Associate Professor Shuuichi Shimma, Osaka University.
・Data analysis (Mass spectrometer)
Participants will analyze the data measured on Day 1.
