The “Universal Tomosynthesis” is a Shimadzu’s unique item to obtain Digital tomosynthesis images easily with Shimadzu general radiography systems and FPD systems in use.
Tomosynthesis is a technology for obtaining tomographic images at an arbitrary height from multiple projected X-ray images by changing the angle of the X-ray tube.
Compared to the standard radiography imaging, the tomosynthesis is superior in depicting micro fractures.
In the actual tomosynthesis examination with this item, a dedicated geometrical calibration phantom is taken together with the patient, and those X-ray images are transmitted to our workstation for image reconstruction. This method is called as “Universal Tomosynthesis”.
