Showcasing the Latest Analytical Solutions

Since its launch in 1968, analytica has been held every two years in Munich and has grown into one of Germany’s largest trade fairs for analytical instruments. analytica 2026 featured 1,135 companies and organizations from 40 countries and attracted approximately 35,000 visitors from 115 countries. It is an international event, with 40 % of visitors coming from overseas.

At the Shimadzu booth, two products launched in 2026 attracted particular attention.

One was the Nexera IC ion chromatograph, launched in February. Routine analyses are conducted daily in accordance with various regulatory test methods to protect the environment and human health. Water quality analysis is one such area, and there is demand for ion chromatographs that enable users to perform analyses reliably and without confusion. The compact Nexera IC offers excellent usability and maintainability, helping streamline routine testing at water utilities and contract analysis laboratories.

Launched in March, the Nexis GC-2060 gas chromatograph (GC) represents the culmination of Shimadzu’s 70 years of GC development. Equipped with a detector offering world-class sensitivity, it serves as the flagship model in Shimadzu’s GC lineup. In recent years, demand for gas analysis has increased due to the development of new energy technologies and the progress of Green Transformation (GX) aimed at achieving carbon neutrality. The system delivers high performance while reducing dependence on operator experience and improves efficiency through analytical support functions and shorter maintenance times.

Participating in a Conference for Scientific Experts

In addition to showcasing the latest solutions at company booths, analytica 2026 also serves as a platform for scientific exchange and discussion.

Sébastien Rolle (GX Manager) from SEG participated in the “Green Analytical Labs of the Future” session and delivered a presentation titled “Make Chromatography Greener: Is Less Solvent the Way Forward?”. He discussed more sustainable approaches to chromatography and introduced Shimadzu initiatives to advance analytical science.
