Shimadzu Review 78[1・2] (2021)

Abstract

We have developed high-precision non-contact sensors (magnetic and imaging sensors) for diagnosing the deterioration status of elevator wire ropes. We confirmed that the deterioration status of elevator wire ropes, such as breakage, rust, and kinking specified in regulations, can be detected with a clear signal difference. By using these sensors, the elevator wire rope inspection procedure stipulated in safety regulations can be executed accurately and efficiently without human error.
