Abstract

We developed a high-resolution TOF-PET system (BresTome) that is specifically designed for head and breast PET studies. The system allows head and breast studies on a single machine with its features of a compact design, easy positioning, a high resolution TOF detector, and attenuation correction with no additional radiation exposure. A performance evaluation presented the equivalent spatial resolution compared to Elmammo while achieving the effective sensitivity higher than Elmammo. As a result of image evaluation, detail phantom structures were clearly visualized compared to the image of conventional whole-body PET. This high-resolution TOF-PET system is expected to play an important role in clinical diagnosis and research that can solve the mechanisms of disease.
