Shimadzu Review 79[3・4] (2022)

Abstract

Head-up displays (HUDs) contribute to improved safety in aircraft, automobiles, and other mobility fields by enabling the user to view both outside and instrument information with less eye movement and less eye focus adjustment. Waveguide technology contributes to significantly reducing the size and thickness of HUD optical systems. In recent years, there has been a trend toward using large display panels for displaying instrumentation in aircraft cockpits. Therefore, we used waveguide technology to develop HUD optical systems with a field of view of at least 25 degrees that can be used in combination with large instrumentation display panels.
