Abstract
The ceramics market is predicted to grow due to increased demand for ceramic components in applications such as power modules and bearings for EVs, industrial machinery, and railway vehicles. However, producing these ceramic components consumes huge amounts of energy, and reducing power consumption is a key concern considering the major 2030 emissions target of Japan and many other countries. One of the process steps used to manufacture ceramics is dewaxing. Shimadzu has utilized superheated steam technology and gas monitoring systems to develop a superheated steam dewaxing furnace (DSF-60C30) intended to reduce power consumption and improve the productivity of dewaxing in ceramics manufacture. This article describes the development of the DSF-60C30 superheated steam dewaxing furnace and related technologies.
