Abstract

The MMS series inline moisture content monitor was designed to measure the moisture content in food for quality control applications. It enables real-time, non-destructive, and non-contact meas-urements of moisture content in food by measuring the response to electromagnetic waves transmit-ted into the interior of the food. It can even measure thick samples that are difficult to measure us-ing conventional near-infrared methods. Due to its compact size, it can be retrofitted to existing lines anywhere there is an open space above the conveyor by simply preparing a mounting stand. That means it can be introduced with minimal changes to existing equipment. Shimadzu is currently collaborating with Sodick Co., Ltd. to promote real-world adoption of the monitoring systems by developing solutions for actual moisture content measurement applications.
