Electric Potential Analysis of an Organic Thin Film Transistor (OFET)

This is a practical example of a shape/electric potential analysis of an organic thin film transistor, a material of interest in flexible display applications. The material is P3HT (3-hexylthiophene), from which high mobility is obtained.

In practical measurements using an SPM, as can be seen from the schematic below, the Source electrode is grounded, and respective individual potentials are applied to the Gate and Drain electrodes. A correlation is then found with how the surface potential changes at the Gate top.
