Observation of Macromolecules

Isotactic Polystyrene Crystals With approximately a 10 nm thickness these crystals are thinner than the string-ball shaped macromolecules. This is an extremely special environment for macromolecules. In this condition the distribution of the macromolecule chains is suppressed, and the crystals themselves take on beautiful forms. (Courtesy of Dr. Hoshino, Faculty of Science, Kyoto University)
