@article{Shah2020RenormalizationGS, title={Renormalization group study of systems with quadratic band touching}, author={Jeet Shah and Subroto Mukerjee}, journal={arXiv: Strongly Correlated Electrons}, year={2020} }

Lifshitz transitions in two 2D systems with a single quadratic band touching point as the chemical potential is varied have been studied here. The effects of interactions have been studied using the renormalization group (RG) and it is found that at the transition a repulsive interaction is marginally relevant and an attractive interaction is marginally irrelevant. We corroborate the results obtained from the RG calculation by studying a microscopic model whose ground state and Green's…

Non-Fermi liquid behavior of electrons in the half-filled honeycomb lattice (A renormalization group approach)

- Physics
- 1993

A system of electrons in the two-dimensional honeycomb lattice with Coulomb interactions is described by a renormalizable quantum field theory similar but not equal to QED3. Renormalization group…

We show that topological states are often developed in two dimensional semimetals with quadratic band crossing points (BCPs) by electron-electron interactions. To illustrate this, we construct a…

Renormalization group aspects of graphene

- Physics, BiologyPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences
- 2011

A renormalization group analysis sheds light on the success of the free model: owing to the special form of the Fermi surface, short-range interactions are irrelevant and only gauge interactions such as long-range Coulomb or effective disorder can play a role in the low-energy physics.

Influence of Lifshitz transitions and correlation effects on the scattering rates of the charge carriers in iron-based superconductors

Minimum model calculations on the co-action of hole vanishing Lifshitz transitions and correlation effects in ferropnictides are presented. The calculations predict non-Fermi-liquid behaviour and…

The tight-binding model is used to describe optical and transport properties including the integer quantum Hall effect, and the also discusses orbital magnetism, phonons and the influence of strain on electronic properties.

Thermodynamic properties of a metal near a Fermi surface topological transition: the anomalous electron-phonon interaction contribution

A compression induced Fermi surface topological transition leads to volume dependent anomalies of the phonon spectrum which may affect the metal thermodynamic behavior. The free energy F is…

New type of Weyl semimetal with quadratic double Weyl fermions

- Physics, MedicineProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences
- 2016

It is shown that SrSi2 is a Weyl semimetal even without spin– orbit coupling and that, after the inclusion of spin–orbit coupling, two Weyl fermions stick together forming an exotic double Weylfermion with quadratic dispersions and a higher chiral charge of ±2.

Moiré bands in twisted double-layer graphene

- Physics, MedicineProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences

This work addresses the electronic structure of a twisted two-layer graphene system, showing that in its continuum Dirac model the moiré pattern periodicity leads to moirÉ Bloch bands.
