April 15, 2026 | News & Notices SHIMADZU Breakers’ Rina Komokata Receives Mie Prefecture Citizen’s Honor Award
Rina Komokata of the SHIMADZU Breakers tennis team (Corporate Communication Department) has received the Mie Prefecture Citizen’s Honor Award. Established in 1979, this award recognizes individuals widely admired in the prefecture for outstanding achievements that inspire hope and positivity. Previous recipients include athletes from Mie Prefecture such as Mizuki Noguchi and Saori Yoshida.
At the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics tennis competition (November 6-25, 2025, Ariake Tennis Park), Komokata won a gold medal in women’s doubles with Riko Suzuki (NTT Urban Development) and a bronze medal in singles. On receiving the award, Komokata commented, “As a native of Mie Prefecture, I am honored to receive such a prestigious award. I am very pleased to share both a gold and a bronze medal with the people in my home prefecture. I will continue to give my best and train hard, aiming for a gold medal in singles in 4 years’ time.”
