November 13, 2025 | News & Notices Silver and the Fighting Spirit Award for the Milling Machine at the 63rd National Skills Competition

Three Shimadzu trainees attending the Technical Training School of the Human Resources Development Department, Human Resources Department, Shimadzu Corporation, competed in the 63rd National Skills Competition held October 17 to 20 (at the Aichi Sky Expo and other venues). Ko Tanioka won the Silver Award, and Kazushi Nakada won the Fighting Spirit Award, both in the Milling Machine category. Last year, Tanioka won the Fighting Spirit Award in this category, and by winning the Silver Award this year, tied for the historical top position at Shimadzu.

The National Skills Competition is a contest where individuals under 23 years old, representing various companies, compete for the title of the best skilled worker in Japan, having advanced through regional preliminaries. In the mechanical category, our competitors are judged on the precision and quality of metal processing within a limited time frame. Shimadzu Corporation fosters engineers with top-level manufacturing skills, strong critical thinking, and the determination to see tasks through to completion. Shimadzu has previously produced award winners in the National Skills Competition, and will continue to promote talent development and enhance our production technology through participation in these competiters.
