Shimadzu Corporation has released LabSolutions Detect, a software with AI Functionality to support Anomaly Detection for Liquid Chromatographs (LC). To improve quality inspections for pharmaceuticals and food products, this software quickly detects impurity contamination by comparing LC analysis data with pre-registered data.

Quality and Safety are always top priorities in each sample analysis, and it is necessary not only to determine whether a sample contains sufficient active ingredients, but also whether any unusual peaks exist that would highlight the existence of impurities. Generally, most analysts perform visual inspection of analysis data as final review that this significantly increases the workload, leading to a higher likelihood of human errors. With LabSolutions Detect, correct data and standard values are first registered for peaks showing the type and number of components that must be contained in target compounds. Using the pre-registered data as a base, the software supports determinations of whether the required components are present in sufficient amounts, and if there are any unknown impurities in the sample. Anomalies from large quantities of data are quickly detected by overlaying chromatograms, checking them visually, and automatically comparing similar peaks. 1. Automatic (AI) Correction of Retention Times, Simplifying the Comparison of Chromatograms

This software aligns chromatograms with AI (an elastic time-series matching algorithm), by automatically adjusting the retention times, which can fluctuate for a variety of reasons, including the sample lot and instrument. By overlaying them, differences between multiple samples can be confirmed at a glance. Anomalies can be easily detected in order to determine whether tolerance ranges have been exceeded.

2. Similar Peaks are Automatically Matched, and Common Impurities are Instantly Detected

In Quality Control Analysis by LC, if impurity peaks that are not subject to control are detected, multiple data sets must be checked visually to determine in which samples those peaks were detected. This software automates the visual matching process by grouping similar peaks with AI (an unsupervised learning algorithm), thereby instantly detecting impurities common to multiple data sets.

3. Generates the Difference Analysis Results with a Single Click
