Shimadzu Group CO2 Reduction Target Approved by the SBTi

Shimadzu Corporation has obtained the approval from the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), an international environmental group.
The medium and long-term CO2 emissions reduction target for the Shimadzu Group has been approved as science based in line with the 2 °C goal of the Paris Agreement.

Shimadzu has prescribed a 30 % reduction (in comparison to 2017) by 2030 as the medium and long-term CO2 emissions reduction target in business activities by the Group as a whole, so as to address environmental problems as a responsible member of society.
As an Eco Solution Provider, Shimadzu, which aims for business growth while resolving environmental problems, will continue to introduce renewable energy both in Japan and other countries, and pursue the miniaturization and heightened energy efficiency of Shimadzu products, aiming to reduce environmental load.

The Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The SBTi encourages businesses to set science-based CO2 reduction targets, independently assesses them, and provides approval.
