SHIMADZU Breakers Suzuho Oshino Brings Her Tennis Career to a Close
Suzuho Oshino, a Shimadzu employee and player in the SHIMADZU Breakers tennis team (“Breakers”), brought down the curtain on her life as a tennis player at the end of March.
A Team She Continues to Admire
Since entering Shimadzu in 2019, Oshino has been honing her tennis skills as an employee-player every day while working in public relations. On becoming a team member, she was thrilled to be playing alongside professional players.
When she joined, she was impressed with the no-compromise attitude of the team members. “I was struck by their single-minded and stoic dedication to training and the pursuit of their technical skills. My admiration for the Breakers has never diminished.”

Aiming to be a Player Who People Want to Cheer for
As a member of the Breakers, Oshino has been working hard to improve her game, and she was particularly determined to do so in her last season of active competition, the 2023 season. In December, she reached the final of the 59th Shimadzu All Japan Indoor Tennis Championships, playing doubles with fellow employee, Ari Matsumoto.
“I have to say, this past year was especially memorable for me. Although we finished second in the Shimadzu All Japan Indoor Tennis Championships, I am proud that we were able to do our best, with so many people cheering us on at the venue. I have been playing with the aim of becoming a player who people will cheer for, and I think I have come close to that through my activities with the Breakers.”

Looking back on her career as a player, Oshino says, “I was able to win because of all the support I received,” and she responds in kind, giving full support to her teammates. The Breakers’ video of the “38th Japan Tennis League” shows her giving vocal support and rushing to the players after they finished their matches.
Comment from Oshino
I have gained much valuable experience through my activities as a player. Although it has been difficult at times, I am grateful to have been able to play on the court as a member of the “SHIMADZU Breakers” with the support of so many people.
I plan to continue to work with the Breakers as a coach and staff member. Using the experience I have gained, I want to work to support the team and create an environment that makes it easier for the players to be successful. Thank you very much for all your support, both at matches and on the Breakers’ social media channels.
