Exhibit at the 73rd Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics (ASMS 2025) in the United States

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments (SSI), which administers Shimadzu measuring instruments business in the United States, exhibited at the 73rd Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics (also known as ASMS), which was held in Baltimore, Maryland from June 1 to 5.

Poster sessions and presentations were held by various companies in the Shimadzu Group.

 

Each year, SSI designs a “Kick Some Mass” logo related to the hosting municipality and uses it for their booth and website 

ASMS 2025 Baltimore

The American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) is a specialty organization related to mass spectrometry and related fields and was established in 1969. More than 8,500 research and development scientists are members. Every year, the annual conference is held in a different municipality. This year, it was held in Baltimore, the largest city in the state of Maryland.

Baltimore is easily accessible from major cities, making it easy for scientists to participate from various international locations. Further, the city has many famous research agencies and universities, where cutting-edge research is conducted in the field of mass spectrometry.

In addition to hosting a product booth, SSI held breakfast seminars and a “hospitality suite.”

Breakfast Seminar
At the breakfast seminars, which were held first thing in the morning, researchers collaborating on a daily basis were presented with the latest mass spectrometry techniques and research results. Lectures were held by Dr. Kim Ekroos, founder of Lipidomics Consulting Ltd. and President of the International Lipidomics Society, and by Professor Hiroshi Tsugawa of the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. These lectures drew the attention of the participants.

Hospitality Suite

At the Hospitality Suite, a special booth set up by Shimadzu at a nearby hotel, participants could get to know each other better in a relaxed atmosphere while dining. Balloon art on the theme of Shimadzu’s 150th anniversary and SSI’s 50th anniversary made this the perfect spot for taking photos, and our customary souvenir T-shirts were very popular.

Poster Sessions and Presentations by the Shimadzu Group

In the Shimadzu Group, presenters gathered from the United States, Japan, India, China, Brazil, and various European locations. Amongst the more than 70 poster sessions and oral presentations, in particular this year, many of them involved PFAS (organic fluorine compounds), an environmentally-related topic, and the theme of food safety.
