Breast Cancer Awareness: For Yourself and Those You Love
Shimadzu’s Pink Ribbon Campaign
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Pink Ribbon campaigns are held around the world to raise awareness of breast cancer and promote early detection and early treatment. As a company committed to health management, Shimadzu also organizes a Shimadzu Pink Ribbon campaign both within the company and in the wider community.

Messages from Shimadzu Group Employees around the World
In addition to encouraging regular breast cancer screening, Shimadzu promotes breast cancer awareness—the importance of being familiar with your breasts and noticing any changes. This year’s campaign video, shared with audiences both inside and outside the company, features more than 60 employees from Japan and overseas, following messages from Shimadzu Corporation President Yasunori Yamamoto and Yoshino Kajitani, Managing Executive Officer responsible for health management. Mao Saigo, a Shimadzu-affiliated professional golfer who competes internationally, has also contributed a message.
Shimadzu Again Serves as a Special Sponsor of Pink Ribbon Kyoto
This year, Shimadzu Corporation is once again a special sponsor of Pink Ribbon Kyoto, an initiative that brings together medical specialists, NPOs, government agencies, companies, and students in Kyoto. On Saturday, October 10, Pink Ribbon Kyoto held its 15th Stamp Rally & Walk.
Participants carrying pink eco-bags visited temples and shrines in Kyoto’s Higashiyama and Okazaki districts and took part in fun activities, including a breast cancer quiz. Shimadzu set up a booth in Kodaiji Park, the event’s finish point, where its public health nurses demonstrated how to perform breast self-examination using breast self-examination models.

Pink Ribbon Concert to Raise Awareness among Employees
On October 27, the Pink Ribbon Concert was held in the large hall at Shimadzu Head Office to raise awareness among employees. Participants can relax and enjoy a string quartet performance while learning how to perform breast self-examinations at the Pink Ribbon Corner.
The concert was jointly organized by our Pink Ribbon Project and the Shimadzu Fan Day Project, a team that organizes events to help employees deepen their understanding of the company.

Comment from the Person in Charge of the Pink Ribbon Campaign
Breast cancer is a disease for which early detection and treatment can save many lives. As part of our health management initiatives, we have been running the Pink Ribbon campaign since 2017. Alongside regular screening, we promote breast cancer awareness, emphasizing the importance of paying attention to your breasts in everyday life.
Just as we look in the mirror each morning to style our hair or check our skin as we apply makeup, we should also pay attention to any changes in our breasts. We believe that seeking medical advice promptly if anything feels unusual helps protect our own health and that of the people we care about, including our families.
This year, we held our first Pink Ribbon Concert at the company in three years. We hope the concert will give our busy colleagues a chance to relax and enjoy beautiful music, while also taking time to reflect on breast cancer and their own health.
