March 16, 2026 | News & Notices Shimadzu has invested JPY 1 billion in Kyoto University Innovation Capital’s Fund III to support the growth and societal implementation of university-originated startups.

Shimadzu Corporation has committed JPY 1 billion to the “Innovation Kyoto 2026 Investment Limited Partnership (KYOTO‑iCAP Fund III),” established by Kyoto University Innovation Capital Co., Ltd. (Kyoto).  Kyoto iCAP has supported early-stage startups aiming to commercialize research outcomes from Kyoto University and other Japanese national universities through the " Innovation Kyoto 2016 Investment Limited Partnership (KYOTO iCAP Fund I)" and the "Innovation Kyoto 2021 Investment Limited Partnership (KYOTO iCAP Fund II)". KYOTO iCAP Fund III aims to raise up to JPY 20 billion.

Shimadzu has been working with Kyoto iCAP to drive open innovation. We will continue to support the social implementation of innovative products and services developed by university-originated startups through investments in Kyoto iCAP.
