For Reducing Analysis Time
The backflushing system reduces analysis times by reversing the flow of carrier gas to backflush involatile or low-mobility substances from the column out through the injection port after elution of target compounds. This shortens analysis time, improving productivity. Moreover, the elution direction of high-boiling-point components that are not target components is reversed, so that such compounds are discharged from the split vent, thereby preventing column contamination and retention time shifts. The backflushing system is suited to applications where the elution time for capillary analysis of all sample components is long but the target components elute in a relatively short time.

Dedicated Backflush Element
Dedicated Backflush Element This component has a low dead-volume and deactivated internal surfaces in the sample channels. It can be combined with a high-precision digital flow controller to achieve backflush analysis with high reproducibility. The element incorporates a replace-able insert to reduce maintenance costs. If the element (shown here in the red circle) becomes contaminated internally, replace the internal insert only. Maintenance costs are reduced, as the entire element does not need replacing.
Also available is software for making the setup of analysis conditions easier. GCsolution and GCMSsolution methods can be loaded for verification of backflush analysis conditions, and the resulting analysis conditions can be saved as a method file. Troublesome backflush timing also can be set up while referring to a chromatogram to which a data file has been loaded.
