Drug Metabolism | Analysis of Urine Samples Using the GC/MS Metabolite Component Database

The components in urine samples were analyzed using the GC/MS Metabolite Component Database.

Test and research flow
1. Urine sample pretreatment and derivatization using the dedicated EZ: faast® derivatization pretreatment reagent kit*
2. Analysis by GC/MS
3. Identification of detected components using the GC/MS Metabolite Component Database

Results
Thirty-three amino acid components were analyzed within 30 minutes (pretreatment: 16 minutes, instrument analysis: 7 minutes, data analysis: 3 minutes).
Fig. 1 shows the analysis results for a urine sample. Table 1 shows the quantitation results for three sample types. Of the 33 amino acid components, 29 were detected.
The GC/MS Metabolite Component Database contains over 300 components, including organic acids, fatty acids, and amino acids. It significantly reduces the complex operations required to identify these components.
