Vol.11 Issue 1Environmental Analysis
-
2025 marks Shimadzu’s 150th anniversary. Since its founding, Shimadzu has remained dedicated to addressing societal challenges in collaboration with key opinion leaders (KOLs), guided by our corporate philosophy: “Contributing to Society through Science and Technology.” For example, as part of our commitment to global sustainability, Shimadzu actively works on PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). Known for their resistance to heat, water, and oil, PFAS are widely used across various industries. However, these properties make them persistent in natural environments and biological systems, raising concerns about their risks to the environment and human health. This issue showcases advanced technologies and research tackling the global challenges posed by PFAS. As part of Shimadzu’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and problem solving, we strive to reduce environmental impacts and build a better future.
