Contributing to Convenient and More Accurate Mobile X-Ray Imaging with Novel Technology for the Industry
Release of the MobileDaRt Evolution MX9 Premium Version of Mobile X-Ray Systems
MobileDaRt Evolution MX9 Premium Version (c type) mobile X-ray system
On April 9, Shimadzu Corporation will release the MobileDaRt Evolution MX9 Version series* of mobile X-ray systems both in Japan and overseas. In addition to the main monitor used by conventional models, the X-ray emitter unit in the Premium Version of this series is equipped with a second monitor and the industry’s first 3D camera (optionally available), thereby contributing to improving the workflow during clinical rounds. The second monitor can display patient information**, camera images, and a variety of imaging conditions, heightening the efficiency of the information checks required before examinations. Shimadzu mobile X-ray systems feature smooth operability with tight turns due to a motorized assist function, and a large monitor built into the main unit, facilitating image checks on the scene. As a result, these models contribute to the well-being (mind/body health and happiness) of both healthcare providers and patients. This series is the flagship model of Shimadzu mobile X-ray systems, more than 8,000 of which have been sold worldwide.*The MobileDaRt Evolution MX9 Version is available in two models: the Premium Version (equipped with a second monitor) and the Standard Version (which has only the main monitor). **The c type is available.
A mobile X-ray system is a diagnostic imaging system that is moved to hospital wards, operating rooms, and emergency areas to perform X-ray examinations. These systems are used by many healthcare providers, so they need to suppress image quality variance due to differences in operational expertise and improve productivity by reducing the frequency of re-imaging. In response, Shimadzu offers VISION SUPPORT, an imaging support function utilizing camera applications. In this product, a second monitor and 3D camera are installed in the X-ray emitter unit, enabling checks of the patient images from the camera, as well as adjustments to the imaging conditions. The angle and distance required for imaging with the 3D camera, an industry first*, are automatically measured. This prevents re-imaging due to positioning errors, thereby contributing to heightened productivity and reduced patient exposure. *Shimadzu in-house investigation
In our medium-term management plan, Shimadzu is promoting a strategy of imagine transformation (IMX), providing new added value using diagnostic imaging instruments, AI, and IoT technology. As part of IMX, Shimadzu is developing mobile X-ray systems that contribute to simpler operability and lower patient exposure, supporting diagnostic imaging that reduces the burden on both healthcare providers and patients.

Features
1. A Second Monitor Heightens the Efficiency of the Workflow of Healthcare Providers
Conventionally, to change imaging conditions, healthcare providers had to operate the main monitor on the main unit. In this product, the X-ray emitter unit is equipped with a second monitor, so healthcare providers can change imaging conditions quickly at the bedside. With the c type of the MobileDaRt Evolution MX9 Premium Version, images can be checked on the second monitor after imaging, further heightening workflow efficiency. This reduces the burden on healthcare providers and leads to a revolution in work style.
2. Contributing to Convenient and More Accurate Imaging with the Industry’s First 3D Camera
The imaging region can be assessed more accurately with images of the patient obtained with the 3D camera. Laser navigation (optionally available) can also be installed in order to determine whether the X-ray emitter unit and the flat panel detector (FPD) are opposite one another. With the 3D camera, the distance from the X-ray emitter unit and the patient and bed surfaces is measured, and the exposure (dosage at the patient) can be displayed on the second monitor. This supports quantitative exposure management within facilities.
3. Supporting Positional Checks of Tubes
Smart Tube *(optionally available), software that provides support for tube and catheter confirmation, can be installed on MobileDaRt Evolution MX9 Premium Version c type and v type units. This software, which utilizes AI technology, recognizes the regions in the image that might be catheters and tubes, and highlights them in color, supporting positional checks by healthcare providers. *Smart Tube is not available in the United States.
