Contents of the lecture
Novel coronavirus (SARS-Coronavirus-2: SARS-CoV-2) emerged in December 2019 in China, and has become a global health emergency. In real-life clinical practice, we need early, easy, and accurate SARS-CoV-2 detection PCR assays for early diagnosis to manage infection control. In this lecture, two doctors from the clinical field will talk about the current situation and challenges of testing for the novel coronavirus. Dr. Takahashi will talk about the clinical performance of the 2019 novel coronavirus detection kit (SHIMADZU method), which does not require an RNA purification process, in comparison with existing SARS-CoV-2 detection methods, and its potential future applications in situations where highly sensitive diagnosis is required. Dr. Suzuki-Inoue will give a lecture on the use of various SARS-CoV-2 testing methods in hospitals depending on the status of infection.
