Shim-pack™ SUR-Na Columns for Ligand Exchange Chromatography
Analyzing Sugars in Foods and Biofuels
Sugar analysis is commonly conducted in a variety of markets. The ethanol production process in the food and biofuels fields, which utilizes the sugar digestion system of yeast microorganisms, requires measuring and monitoring sugar components and amounts accurately for process design and quality control. Shim-pack™ SUR-Na, a ligand exchange chromatography column, offers excellent performance by combining size exclusion mode and sodium-based ligand exchange mode to provide superior separation of sugar components. Pure water can be used for the mobile phase, resulting in less effort to prepare for the analysis.

Analysis of Tea Beverages Using Catechin Analysis Kit
The catechin analysis kit, developed in collaboration with the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), provides validated test methods for catechins in tea leaves and green tea drinks from sample pre-treatment to HPLC measurement. You can accurately quantitate the content of 11 catechins (including methylated catechins) and caffeine in tea leaves. This article summarizes the results of the catechins quantitation in several beverages: green tea, black tea, and oolong tea.

What is Multidimensional Chromatography?
Multidimensional chromatography uses a combination of several chromatography techniques, separation modes, and columns to separate multiple components. It achieves significantly higher separation than normal one-dimensional chromatography.
