TORAST ™-H Series - Features
Low Adsorption Products
TORAST-H PP Vial (Screw)
For customers analyzing low-concentration or precious samples, the TORAST-H PP Vial (Screw) is the ideal choice. It has a special surface treatment that prevents hydrophobic and ionic adsorption onto the surface of the vial.
Ensuring reliability of low-concentration sample analysis
The graph shows peak areas analyzed by LC/MS at 0 and 24 hours after a 0.1 µg/mL peptide was poured into each vial. The TORAST-H PP Vial (Screw) detected peaks whereas a low adsorption PP vial from another company showed a decrease in peak areas due to sample adsorption. Additionally, a general PP vial did not detect any peaks.

Graduation marks
Graduation marks are useful for recognizing the sample volumes.
Efficient temperature control

The unique shape improves the temperature control efficiency in the vial rack.
Minimum sampling volumes
When using Shimadzu HPLC, the needle moves down to a height of 1.5 mm* from the inner bottom as the initial value of the needle stroke.

[Example of minimum sampling volumes]
Sample solvent = Water : 6 µL
Sample solvent = Acetonitrile : 8 µL
Depending on the analysis conditions.
TORAST-H Bio Vial
For customers analyzing low-concentration or precious samples, the TORAST-H Bio Vial is the ideal choice. It has a special surface treatment that prevents hydrophobic and ionic adsorption onto the surface of the vial.
Adsorption Test of Tryptic digested BSA (≈50 µg/mL)
TORAST-H Bio Vials show less adsorption compared to general glass and polypropylene vials.

TORAST-H 96well 500 RU
Shimadzu’s TORAST-H 96-well 500 RU plates are bonded non-ionic and hydrophilic groups reducing adsorption of hydrophobic and ionic analytes on the surface of the wells. TORAST-H 96-well plates are recommended for customers that analyze low concentrations and precious samples.
Adsorption Test of Imipramine
Imipramine is used in the treatment of depression and is a hydrophilic and basic compound. (logP: 4.28, pKa: 9.2).
The chromatogram below shows a comparison of the Imipramine peak area with a non-coated polypropylene 96-well plate compared to TORAST-H 96-well plates. The non-coated polypropylene 96-well plate shows hydrophobic adsorption within the well.
TORAST-H 96-well 500 RU plates significantly improved the peak area by preventing adsorption within the wells. This result indicates that the TORAST-H 96-well 500 RU plate is effective at preventing adsorption.

TORAST-H Tip
The TORAST-H Tip consists of bonded non-ionic and hydrophilic groups, reducing adsorption of hydrophobic and ionic analytes on the surface of the tip. The TORAST-H Tip is recommended for customers analyzing low-concentration and precious samples.
Adsorption Test of Imipramine
Imipramine is used in the treatment of depression and is a hydrophilic and basic compound. (logP: 4.28, pKa: 9.2).
The chromatograms below show the adsorption results of imipramine during analysis by LC/MS.
As shown, the 200 µL and 10 µL tips show excellent peak shape and significant low adsorption performance, while the other company’s tips show 74% and 8% of the TORAST-H Tip area due to adsorption.

TORAST-H Filter Device
The TORAST-H Filter Device is a low-adsorption filtration device that allows for easy removal of impurities by centrifugation.
Since the receiving container has low adsorption for ionic substances and highly hydrophobic substances, it minimizes sample loss after filtration.
High Recovery Rate of Peptides
The following data shows the results obtained by LC/UV after samples were added to the TORAST-H Filter Device and a competitor’s receiving tubes, left to stand at 15°C for 48 hours, and then dispensed into the TORAST-H Bio Vial.
The sample recovery amount in the TORAST-H Filter Device was approximately 8 times higher than the amount obtained with the competitor’s receiving tubes, demonstrating its adsorption suppression effect.
