Introduction

Pressure-sensitive tape (hereafter referred to as “tape”) is used in applications ranging from household use to industrial manufacturing. Because these tapes are used in many different applications and environments, they must meet a wide range of performance requirements. Therefore, it is important to evaluate tape performance objectively based on numerical data obtained under standardized conditions, rather than subjective judgment. One such method is peel adhesion testing, which measures the force required to peel the tape from a substrate. By measuring peel adhesion, it is possible to quantify the adhesive properties of the tape and compare different products and test conditions. ASTM D3330 is the most widely used standard for the quantitative evaluation of peel adhesion. The ASTM D3330 standard was established by ASTM International of the United States, and it specifies test conditions and procedures that enable reliable evaluation of peel adhesion. Using this standard enables adhesive performance to be evaluated consistently for a given application and to stabilize quality.
