Shim-pack MAqC-ODS I reversed-phase columns are packed with a silica gel containing metal and added octadecylsilyl group. In addition to the hydrophobic characteristics of the ODS, the metal content also provides cation-exchange effects. This increases the retention of basic compounds. Therefore, this allows use with only a buffer solution as the mobile phase for analyses that previously required using an ion pair reagent and enables using gradient elution. These characteristics are especially beneficial for analyzing water soluble vitamins and pharmaceuticals that contain a large amount of basic compounds.
Many pharmaceuticals are basic compounds. The majority of impurities in pharmaceuticals, such as unreacted ingredients, by-products, and decomposition products...

SFC Analytical Condition Parameters is available.
The approach for the SFC analytical condition development process is basically the same as for determining analytical conditions for HPLC.
Latest issue of Shimadzu Journal, featuring Forensics / Toxicology, has come out.
This issue focuses on "Forensics / Toxicology", an area where science and technology are particularly important and needed. It starts with two customer interviews.
Analysis of Tea Beverages Using Catechin Analysis Kit
The catechin analysis kit, developed in collaboration with the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), provides validated test methods for catechins in tea leaves and green tea drinks from sample pre-treatment to HPLC measurement. You can accurately quantitate the content of 11 catechins (including methylated catechins) and caffeine in tea leaves. This article summarizes the results of the catechins quantitation in several beverages: green tea, black tea, and oolong tea.
Extraction and Fractionation of Functional Ingredients with Online SFE-SFC
This article describes a preparative online supercritical fluid extraction-supercritical fluid chromatography (SFE-SFC) system that combines an extraction step using supercritical carbon dioxide as the solvent, a separation step using supercritical carbon dioxide as the mobile phase, and a fractionation step using a preparative-scale fraction collector (FRC).
New UF-Amino Station
UF-Amino Station, which was developed in collaboration with Ajinomoto Co., Ltd., uses a special high-speed and high-separation column and the LCMS-2020 mass spectrometer, to perform batch analyses of 38* amino acids and amino acid-related components in a mere 9 minutes.
What is Multidimensional Chromatography?
Multidimensional chromatography uses a combination of several chromatography techniques, separation modes, and columns to separate multiple components. It achieves significantly higher separation than normal one-dimensional chromatography.
