December 20, 2022 | News & Notices Received CDP “A-“ in Climate Change and “B” in Water Security

Shimadzu Corporation received an A- rating in the Climate Change category  and a B rating in the Water Security category (previously B and B, respectively) in the CDP 2022 survey conducted by the international environmental non-profit organization CDP *.
We believe the A- win in the Climate Change category is a recognition of our company's efforts to set and achieve carbon neutrality goals. In terms of water security, we are working to identify locations with high water risks, including supply chains, and to prepare for voluntary water resource protection and business continuity.

In March of this year, Shimadzu Corporation set a new goal of achieving net zero CO2 emissions in the Group's business activities in FY 2050. The interim goal is "more than 85% reduction in FY 2030 and more than 90% reduction in FY 2040 from FY 2017 levels". Shimadzu Corporation certifies its products with outstanding environmental performance as Eco-Products Plus, which has contributed to the reduction of CO2 emissions at customer sites. We are also focusing on the use of electricity derived from renewable energy sources, such as the installation of solar power generation facilities. Joining RE100, an international environmental initiative, the Group has declared that it will switch to using 100% renewable energy for its business activities by 2050. Based on our Management Principle, "Realizing Our Wishes for the Well-being of Mankind and the Earth," Shimadzu Corporation will continue to promote innovation and balance its business activities with environmental conservation in order to realize a decarbonized and circular society.
