Nexera Series Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatograph
- Monocyclic and dicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in jet fuel can be quantified in accordance with IP 436/ASTM D6379-21ε1. - Stable analytical results can be obtained using the RID-20A with its precise temperature control.
Jet fuel is generally composed of hydrocarbons such as paraffins and aromatics, and its combustion and heat-generation characteristics vary depending on the composition. Consequently, quality control standards have been established for the composition of hydrocarbons in jet fuel products and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The ASTM standards established by ASTM International and the IP standards established by the Energy Institute are representative examples. IP 436/ASTM D6379 is a test method for separating monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (MAHs) and dicyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (DAHs) in jet fuel by HPLC and determining their contents. This test method was revised in 2021; the number of compounds to be separated has increased, the required resolution has become greater, and higher separation performance is now required, resulting in stricter demands on the analytical system to be established. This article presents analyses of MAHs and DAHs in kerosene and SAF in accordance with IP 436/ASTM D6379-21ε1 using the Nexera lite, high-performance liquid chromatograph.
